Physical Internet

My experiences with Internet Service Providers has generically have been good, except when I had to use dial-up. Short story it wasn’t to fun to deal with the loud start up and slow internet but at least I had some kind of internet. I don’t have any experiences with Cloud based services yet.

Digital Literacy

The form of digital literacy that I feel is becoming widely used in the music industry today is Reproduction Literacy.  As you may already know, reproduction literacy is the art of creative recycling of existing materials. In music today, this is a popular trend primarily in hip-hop music industry, especially in 90’s hip hop and still today. This topic of reproduction literacy raises several questions such as:  What are the boundaries of creativity in art? When does a creation become a technical act of reproduction? To what extent can a person copy or revise an existing work of art before it is considered plagiarism rather than an original creation? Personally, I do believe there should be limits to this process to give recognition to the individual who is responsible for the existing work.  However, I think sampling music and getting inspiration from existing music can create amazing music, bringing previous works of art to a whole new generation. And bring in new generations to hear what old music sounds like and how their music they listen to today has been inspired by older music.

Transformed Media Landscape

About Clay Shirky’s How social media can make history video: “Social media could possibly be a new third party in politics”. I say why stop at politics, why not use it for humanities issues and have a kind of world voting system. Since everything is related and connected the whole of mankind should vote on certain issues. If massive industries are polluting the earth in pursuit of capital do we not all have a right to vote that it stops. If we destroy the planet and the world runs out of clean drinking water is any human or life less affected? If we came up with possible solutions lets say 10 for instance. Had the entire world vote on the best possible solution and got it moving it could help. Obviously new ideas will arise that could also be submitted at a later date to drive revision of solutions. The world spends so much time on the internet already voting on like 5 things a day wouldn’t be hard. They vote on stupid things so why not put their minds towards something that does society some good. I know this idea is very young and without detail, I don’t have all the answers, but ideas continue to grow. Any idea that helps our world I’m all for it. Society should definitely think of importing some kind of worldwide or big countries/world issues voting system on issues that relate to the whole world.

Software and Digital Media

My favorite piece of hardware/software is the Playstation 3 because of the graphics and the vast amount of games that you can play on it. Also you can import video and music on it for watching at any time. Plus it has Netflix and Youtube for watching TV shows and my favorite Youtubers whenever I want to. It also has a Blu-ray player so I don’t have to go out and buy another one. Overall it is pretty much an essential for the modern day teenage male in today’s society. My favorite video game is Grand Theft Auto 4, because it has a great storyline, ability to do/use animated violence, guns, cars, planes, boats and more.

Computer Hardware

My best experience with computer hardware was when I got my Apple MacBook Pro, and I realized that the computer I was using was a piece of crap and incredibly slow compared to my new MacBook Pro. And the old computer was only a few years old. My worst experience with computer hardware was with that same computer from my best experience (It was aPC) because in the beginning the computer worked great but towards the end it ended up being a slow worthless piece of shit.

The History Of Computers

Apple Inc., formerly Apple Computer, Inc., is a multinational corporation that creates consumer electronics, personal computers, computer software, and commercial servers, and is a digital distributor of media content. Apple’s core product lines are the iPhone smart phone, iPad tablet computer, iPod portable media players, and Macintosh computer line. Founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak effectively created Apple Computer on April 1, 1976, with the release of the Apple I, and incorporated the company on January 3, 1977, in Cupertino, California.

For more than two decades, Apple Computer was predominantly a manufacturer of personal computers, including the Apple II, Macintosh, and Power Mac lines, but it faced rocky sales and low market share during the 1990s. Jobs, who had been fired from the company in 1985, returned to Apple in 1996 after his company NeXT was bought by Apple. The following year he became the company’s interim CEO, which later became permanent. Jobs subsequently instilled a new corporate philosophy of recognizable products and simple design, starting with the original iMac in ’98.

With the introduction of the successful iPod music player in 2001 and iTunes Music Store in 2003, Apple established itself as a leader in the consumer electronics and media sales industries, leading it to drop “Computer” from the company’s name in 2007. The company is now also known for its iOS range of smart phone, media player, and tablet computer products that began with the iPhone, followed by the iPod Touch and then iPad. As of 2012, Apple is the largest publicly traded corporation in the world by market capitalization, with an estimated value of US$626 billion as of September 2012. Apple Inc’s market cap is larger than that of Google and Microsoft combined. Apple’s worldwide annual revenue in 2010 totaled US$65 billion, growing to US$127.8 billion in 2011 and $156 billion in 2012. Today Apple is still one of the biggest sellers of electronics in the world.
